IT Asset Manager and Software Licensing Expert

“I maximize IT efficiency through helping you make smarter purchasing and decisions.”

Mr. Justh provides world class IT asset management; software licensing expertise; and contract support; as well as strong research and writing skills, for any organization that is trying to improve their levels of software compliance and provide a positive impact on their bottom line.  With a strong background in risk avoidance, analysis, policy and procedure writing, and management, he has held responsible positions in the engineering, bio-pharmaceutical and entertainment industries.  At each location, he has provided award-winning results while reducing costs, eliminating risks, and improving efficiency.  A proven history of cost savings and optimizing asset usage resulted in six-figure reductions in expenditures.  Besides delivering world-class technical skills, he also maintains a strong ability to communicate with both staff and executives in an organization.

At Universal Studios, he developed a plan (independent of outside resources or internal request) to improve the customer experience at the theme park.  This involved distributing Compaq IPAQ units (an early equivalent to a BLACKBERRY) to the visitors so they could see schedules, events, ride information, food specials, and other park products.  As a cross-over, they could find out about Universal music and Universal movies.  It would also allow for advertising (as a separate revenue stream) and even links to outside sites (another revenue stream).  This received an award for the best product idea of the year.

While at L3 Communications, he independently developed a plan to optimize the engineering staff’s access to archival data.  They had data stored on micro-fiche in non-fireproof cabinets.  He planned that all of the images be transferred to digital files, saving time transit to the room, finding the needed fiche (and then re-filing later), and then converting the data to a paper copy.  This would save facilities costs since this entire room would be freed up for other uses and most importantly provide risk reduction since those files were irreplaceable in case of a fire.  This project was recognized by senior management as one of the best ideas of the entire year.  It will reduce costs by $78,000 per annum plus the associated risk reductions and cost reductions related to facilities reallocations.

He became the IT Asset Manager at the Getty Museum.  While there, he won NUMEROUS awards for service and accomplishments.  Managing a staff of four, he was able to reduce annual expenditures by over $100,000 and at the same time provided 27% faster turn around on both hardware and software deployments.  One project involved finding and tracking all the computer equipment on the campus.  This involved research, analysis, manpower scheduling, and documentation.  It resulted in a 99.7% discovery rate and $97,000 in savings on the support contract.  The project was completed on time and under budget.  A second project involved reducing printer deployment from the existing 4:1 (person to device) ratio to the industry standard of over 10:1.  This necessitated collaborating with the facilities department for their blueprints; research; financial and risk analysis; documentation; and negotiation skills (since it was necessary to remove units from sensitive locations such as senior management).  This project was completed successfully, resulting in a savings to the company of over $75,000 with reduced service calls, standardized equipment, fewer toner and ink cartridges for the warehouse to stock, as well as using more efficient printers, lessening costs per page of print.  Another project involved the expansion of the company to the new Malibu venue.  This required cost analysis, purchasing, scheduling (manpower and deliveries), and documentation for a major deployment.  He was the lead on this effort and it was accomplished both on time and under budget.

At Amgen, he was contracted to maintain the company’s software licenses with a focus on Microsoft, Adobe, and Symantec.  His expertise resulted in a $93,000 savings proposal. By incorporating data mining, financial analysis, vendor negotiations, as well as optimizing deployment, the company was able to better utilize existing assets in a more efficient manner.  The company recommended an award for this accomplishment.

At his most recent posting at Northrop Grumman, he was challenged with essentially little documentation, no process and procedure, and no data history.  He was able to create a report of all previous software orders including quantities, names, vendors, and other needed facts.  Utilizing this data resource, he was then able to determine where the division was out of compliance, and also how to best optimize contracts to reduce costs and risks.  The potential cost savings to the division have been calculated to be about $95,000.
